You cannot sign in

How to get a new password, where accounts come from, and how to reach us with no account at all.

You forgot your password

Open the password page and give the address you sign in with. If that address has an account, a single use link is sent to it. Open the link and choose a new password.

The answer on screen is the same whether or not the address has an account. That is on purpose: a page that said "no such account" would be a way for anyone to check whether a given person is in this room.

The link is single use. If you open it, do not use it, and come back to it later, ask for another rather than retrying the old one.

Open the link in the same browser you asked for it from. The exchange needs something that browser kept, so a link forwarded to a phone or opened in a different browser will not sign you in.

The link never arrived

Check the spam folder, then confirm you used the address you actually sign in with rather than a second one you also own.

If it still does not arrive, use the form at the bottom of this help page and say which address you tried. That form works with no account and no session.

You never had an account

Accounts are not self serve. You get one through a private invitation link, or by opening the product from your course. If you have neither, that is what to ask for, and the same form is the way to ask.

Your password works and the product still will not let you in

Two situations look identical from the outside and are not.

If you scheduled your account for deletion, you are held on one page until you either call it off or the date passes. Signing back in and pressing Keep my account is the way out, and it works up to that date.

Anything else is a fault rather than a rule, and it is worth a ticket. Say what you typed, what the screen said back, word for word, and roughly when.

Reaching us without signing in

The form at the bottom of this help page opens a real ticket with a number, using an address you type in. It is the same queue as everything else. Nothing about it requires you to get in first, which is the entire reason it exists.
