Commissions, net feeds, and why a number differs from Bookmap
The one setting that corrects two opposite distortions, and why your ticks can disagree with Bookmap's.
The two worlds
Your platform reports profit and loss in one of two ways, and they distort your numbers in opposite directions.
Gross feeds, which is simulation and most platforms. The ticks are true and the dollars are before commissions. Without a rate on file, every day looks slightly better than it was.
Net feeds, which is what a broker statement through Bookmap gives you. The dollars are already net, but Bookmap folds the commission back into the price, so the ticks shrink. A four tick winner can display as under two ticks. Without a rate on file, your execution looks worse than it was.
One setting fixes both: your round turn commission per contract, entered once per instrument, in Settings.
Set it per account, not just once
Commission settings are scoped per trading account, with your default used for any account that has none of its own.
That matters if you run more than one. A prop firm trader can have broker accounts reporting net and evaluation accounts reporting gross at the same time, and a single flag would correct one world while corrupting the other. Pick the account from the list and set its own rate and its own net or gross answer.
Why a tick count can still differ from Bookmap
Because on a net feed the two are answering different questions. Bookmap is showing you the price you got after the commission was folded in. With your rate on file, the dashboard reconstructs the gross ticks, which is the number that describes your execution rather than your bill.
If the two disagree and you have no rate on file for that instrument, that is the reason, and entering the rate resolves it.
What is never touched
All of this is display arithmetic on your own numbers. Nothing is sent back to your platform, the connector is not involved, and your recorded trades are not rewritten. Change the rate and everything recomputes from what was always there.
If your numbers still do not reconcile after setting the rate, open a ticket with a question about my numbers, and name the account, the instrument and one trade you have in front of you. One trade both sides can look at settles it faster than a description.
